Pet of the Month: February 2009

Gypsy

Gypsy, an eight and a half year old pomeranian, always announces her arrival! Gypsy's joyous bark and constantly wagging tongue have been keeping us on our toes since 2006. In 2007, Gypsy was diagnosed with Cushing's disease, which is an overproduction of cortisol (the stress-steroid). Cushing's causes excess thirst, muscle pain, hair loss as well as a myriad of other symptoms. We recently started treating Gypsy for her Cushing's, with a newly FDA approved medication, and Gypsy is doing great! Happy Valentine's Day, Gypsy!

Trevor

Trevor has been coming to Dogwood since he was only 10 weeks old. Trevor is generally a very healthy, happy guy, but does have a skin condition. Recently, he has been in to visit us a lot! Trevor is also special because he and his owner have adopted two rescued felines from us. Mama Kitty and her kitten, Henry, are the newest additions to their loving home. Trevor loves his new feline siblings and is doing great! We wish him the best!

Pet of the Month: December 2008

Tubby

Tubby is a 14-year-old bundle of love that has been coming to Dogwood since February 2008. Ever since he came to us he has had nasal issues. He used to breath loudly and with difficulty. We tried antibiotics and flushed the naval cavity. Still Tubby remained congested! Last fall, the owner came rushing in! Tubby had sneezed up a large, benign tumor! Ever since then his breathing has been great! We here at Dogwood wish Tubby all the best!
